  12. What is it?

  14.    KillCMOS basically "resets" your computer's CMOS settings to the factory
  15.    defaults. Works with ALL CMOS.  KiLLCMOS only changes checksums & values
  16.    that makes the motherboard CMOS revert back to factory defaults.

  18.   **  IT DOES NOT ReProgram your CMOS like a FLASH ROM Writer does.

  20.   ** IT DOES NOT DAMAGE Hardware.  KiLLCMOS reads/writes to areas of the
  21.       CMOS that gets written to everyday, the difference is the VALUES that
  22.       we give it(cmos).

  24. Reset CMOS, Why?

  27.   I work in the Computer industry and often the CMOS needs to be manipulated,
  28.   but someone has passworded the setup. "Gee", the customer says, "How'd that
  29.   get there, We don't know anything about a PASSWORD?"  This was why I wrote
  30.   the program.
  31.       Sometimes, Computer-wannabe-twits deliberately forget to tell
  32.   me that they have passworded their systems, just so that I'll have to call
  33.   and ask them for it.  What dumb-asses!!, the response I used to get
  34.   sometimes was "What?, You can't Hack it?".

  36.   Yeah, I can hack it asshole.  Well, anyway.  Now, my crew at work doesn't
  37.   have to hear that shit anymore.  Now, its us telling them..." BTW, you'll
  38.   have to re-set your Password.  We had to Kill it to FIX your Computer."

  41.        BTW, yes, I have AW, AMI, AMIDECODE, PASS, PASSWORD, PASSOFF, and
  42.   they all work on MotherBoards circa 1988-1994.  Haven't seen one of these
  43.   programs crack a password for a year and a half.

  46.   Sometimes, a motherboard's CMOS settings will get corrupted due to a
  47.   power-flux or just because it felt like it.  The Level of corruption may
  48.   keep you from even into the CMOS menu.

  50. O.K., I get it, But How does it do it?

  52.   KiLLCMOS is a direct descendant of my first Bios Resetter, CLRCMOS.
  53.  
  54.   CLRCMOS changed one Checksum in CMOS.  64 byte .COM file that would
  55.   work on 100% of the computers from 1987 until 1994.  Around '94 ,
  56.   More Bioses strayed from the IBM CMOS manifesto, in you will, and started
  57.   making their CMOS larger & more proprietary.  Sooo..  CLRCMOS started
  58.   to fail in its tasks( killing CMOS/PASSWORDS).  It seemed CLRCMOS would
  59.   reset the CMOS, but still leave the PASSWORD & its "Check at setup" Bit
  60.   intack, therefore leaving me with having to drain the battery to enter the
  61.   CMOS.

  63.   This is where KiLLCMOS come into play. Where CLRCMOS took a Sniper's shot
  64.   at your computer's CMOS Checksum (1 byte), KiLLCMOS takes a Shotgun blast
  65.   to your CMOS.  KiLLCMOS changes the values in ALL KNOWN proprietary
  66.   Checksum locations. Then, it changes (overwrites) ALL KNOWN Password
  67.   & their accompanying Checksums.

  69.   End Result. Computer Reboots, Says "CMOS Checksum Failure, Default
  70.   Settings Loaded..."

  72.   Now its time to reconfigure your motherboard to your specific hard-drives,
  73.   floppies...etc.

  75. OK. I'm ready, How do I do it?
  76.  
  77.   Just execute KiLLCMOS.COM .  You can run it from a floppy, or from
  78.   Windows 3.x/Win95.  I haven't tested WIN NT with it yet though.
  79.   In Windows systems your "open session" will continue as normal. Only when
  80.   you reboot your system, will the CMOS Checksums be recognized as "bad" &
  81.   the CMOS reset.

  98.      Wrote it in Turbo .ASM.  I encrypted it so that so lamer would see
  99.      a crime of opportunity, and put his LaMeNaMe in there.
